Clematis Gardens
Clematis gardens are becoming more popular each year as gardeners discover the ease of growing these beautiful plants. Many clematis gardens are set up in a way that allows for lovely blooms to be present from late winter through late autumn. Planting a variety of clematis plants that have a variety of bloom times does this.

The most important thing to consider when starting a clematis garden is the end goal. If a garden that has many, many similar colored blooms for a shorter period of time is desired, several plants of the same species would do the trick nicely. However, if a garden that is dynamic throughout the growing season and changes bloom colors often would be more suitable, many different species planted together would be much more likely.

One thing to note when planting a clematis garden is that clematis blooms may vary in color from year to year. If the garden is in full sun, this will be even more prevalent. It is impossible to stop this from happening to many of the species of clematis, and this change year to year is one of the things that make clematis so desirable to many gardeners.

Another aspect of clematis to know when staring a clematis garden is the importance of pruning. When and how the plant is pruned will affect the amount blooms that appear and when they appear. It is also important to know that the blooming habits of each individual species of clematis determines when and how to prune the plant.
